Clintons canoodle, market deity Rand in year’s top nonfiction
,
“Goddess of the Market: Ayn Rand and the American Right,” by Jennifer Burns (Oxford) and “Ayn Rand and the World She Made,” by Anne C. Heller (Doubleday). Sales of Rand’s books soared last year, making these two well-researched biographies especially timely. Burns’s book focuses more on Rand’s ideas, while Heller’s is a thorough recounting of her life -- from privileged Russian schoolgirl to Hollywood screenwriter to bestselling novelist with a handsome husband and much younger lover on the side.
