In the 1950s, Random House published works by Whittaker Chambers and Ayn Rand, both of whom [Bennett] Cerf found politically repugnant but personally charming. He drew the line at publishing Rand's nonfiction books, but wrote that "for some reason, Ayn took a liking to me."
